pop3 error messages when Exchange server trying to retrieve mail from ISP.
Hello I am having some trouble with exchange server retrieving messages from the mail server via the pop3 connector. The server is running exchange server 2007 SP1 and SBS server 2008. I have included the error log from the pop3 connector. Could anyone see from the log file what might be causing the problems because I cant work out why. It is mainly to do with invalid headers in the incoming message but is there a way to resolve this or to make exchange server ignore these errors. please see log file below. t 0] 02/16/11, 19:48:53: EVENT: Because of transient or unknown failures, one or more messages (1) could not be delivered to 'name@domain.com.au' on the SMTP server 'localhost'. The messages will be left on the POP3 server. If these failures continue to occur, you can either connect to the POP3 account and retrieve or delete the messages manually, or resolve the problem causing the errors. For more information, see the log file at "C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs\pop3connector\pop3service.log". There is a corrupt message in the POP3 mailbox. You will need to login to the mailbox using a web mail client and remove the corrupt message. I would also suggest that you update the server to Exchange 2007 SP3 - SP1 is very old. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
