outlook web access works outwith office but not within
I can manage to connect to Outlook Web Access when I am out of the office from my home PC. I have several computers in my office and it would be good if I could login to OWA on any PC. When I try this the system asks for a username and password. I type my normal username and password in but it does not work. If I type my router username and password it then takes me to the router configuration window. Perhaps OWA only works when you trying to access your mail externally?

Hi It sounds like the internal DNS name that you are using for OWA is actually pointing at your router. Steve

Hi there and thanks for that ... do you know what I need to do to configure the DNS settings on the server, or maybe I need to do this somewhere else?

Do you have an external and an internal DNS server? The external DNS server should publish the IP address used to connect from the Internet. The internal DNS should publish the address used to connect to OWA from within your LAN. If you have just one CAS then it'll probably be that machine's IP address. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

I'm not sure whether I have an internal and external DNS. I have run the ipconfig /all command and it displays just one number for DNS Servers. Is there a way of finding out what the Internal DNS server is?

Your domain name is in some ISP's DNS serever with its SOA and NS records. Whether your ISP manages your external DNS only you can tell because you haven't said what your domain name is. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
