outlook not connected with 3G/4G dongle

Hi,

I am not able to connect to outlook ( not able to send and receive any mails) whenever i use 3G/4G dongle ( I tried with Airtel 4G and Reliance Pro3). This problem occurs when i use the dongle with  Windows 8.1 Pro and Office 2013 combination in Dell Latitude E7450 laptop.  However i don't face this issue with Windows 7 and office 2013 combination ( In another laptop) and also HP Envy laptop with Windows 8.1 Home edition and Office 2007.

The error message is "Microsoft outlook can not connect to the server

  1. Type of email account configured in Outlook is  Exchange server
  2. Whenever the dongle is connected the problem is only with outlook connectivity ( I am able to connect to internet and browse).
  3. Not able to ping to the server while connecting with the dongle

Please suggest and help.

With regards,

Hi

Are you able to ping the internet name that outlook anywhere is set to? This sounds like your ISP for your 3G is either not seeing the DNS entries or not allowing it.

Can you login to OWA?

Hi,

Since everything works fine with Exchange server, it might be caused by network delay.

Please use trace route to your proxy server. You may find correct proxy server address: go to File (Tools) > Account Settings > double-click on Exchange email address > verify the Server address is correct > More Settings > Connection > Exchange Proxy Settings.
If there are some asterisks (*) or the response time is > 200 ms within your network (first 2-3 hops), reboot your router or modem, and contact your ISP if necessary. If the asterisks appear beyond your Network, contact Support.

Thanks
