outlook failed to get the crawl scope manager with error=0x80070008

All of a sudden my outlook 2013(windows 7 pro 64 bit), freezes, then I need to close, open. It happens frequently or at-least once in 2 days.

Event-viewer shows the following

Event id 34, outlook failed to get the crawl scope manager with error=0x80070008

Thanks for your time.

Hello,

This issue rarely occurs in Outlook. But no worries, it can be solved by trying below listed remedies like:

  1.        Open Outlook in Safe mode. Outlook in safe mode-  Start>Run>Type:  outlook.exe /safe
  2.        Disable addins. They sometimes cause such kind of errors. Disable addins in Outlook: Tools-> Trust center->Addins->Select COM Add-ins-> Go->Start disabling all the addins.
  3.        Repair Outlook: Help->Detect->Repair.
  4.        Still, if all the above fails, then move to registry location and to do so type "regsvr32 OLE32.DLL" in the run window. Search for all the hidden files and replace the file named extend.dat to extend.old.
  5. Else you can try to create a new Outlook profile. But keep one thing in mind, that is if you are connected to exchange then, place the new profile in not cached mode .
  6. At last but not the least, you can uninstall the Outlook and reinstall the Outlook thus by reinstalling It in a clean mode.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, do you think it is because of the ''indexing", I googled and found some alternate post about the subject issue referred to ''indexing'' may cause outlook to stop respond.

Hello,

Yes you may try the suggested solution there. Or you may also reset the navigation pane by typing "outlook.exe /resetnavpane" in the search box of window. Either of them can help you.

Feel free to ask further related questions.
