That's to be expected.  Make sure Autodiscover works.

Hi Pankaj,

Incase you figure out that Autodiscover is actually not working as Ed said. You might attempt to manually configure it until its fixed.

Unlike earlier versions you need to know more than just a Exchange server name to configure it manually.

Exchange 2013 connects to the mailbox using the ExchangeGUID which is unique for that mailbox, this helps Exchange to locate the mailbox current Active DB easily and also aids in High Availability.

Also Exchange 2013 works on http(s) only, hence you need to have it setup before you can configure a mailbox.

Things required prior to manual configuration:

  1. Strange GUID in Outlook Servername field
  2. OWA URL
  3. msstd: Certificate - Principal Name (optional, most cases same as the OWA Url)
  4. User Email ID or Displayname

Lets see how you can collect those:

1. ExchangeGUID cmdlet:

Get-mailbox User1 | fl Name,ExchangeGUID

Use the above info and the domain to form the required string

Servername field GUID: ExchangeGUID@UPNSuffix.com or ExchangeGUID@mydomain.com
Eg. c4eeaefd-de2f-42fb-8965-5500d9578d4e@mydomain.com

2. This will be something like "mail.mydomain.com" you don't need the https:// part here to be mentioned.

3. Open the OWA URL in IE, and open the certificate associated, the General Tab

Issued To: mail.mydomain.com

or Details Tab: Subject Name: CN = mail.mydomain.com

Append the name with "msstd:"

Eg. msstd:mail.mydomain.com

4. User1@mydomain.com or User1

Ofcourse you can get it from a profile which is already configured.

Lets configure it now:

1.First on the server settings page Goto ->"More Settings"

2.Conenction Tab-> Outlook Anywhere: [Check] and click "Exchange Proxy Settings.."

3.Fill in the OWA URL "mail.mydomain.com" and then the "msstd:mail.mydomain.com" as shown in the screenshot. (Other settings as well)

4.Now fill in the Server Settings:

Server: c4eeaefd-de2f-42fb-8965-5500d9578d4e@mydomain.com

and Username:User1@mydomain.com

5.Click on Checknames

6.  Next->Finish And you are done.

Hi,

If you want to setup your Exchange 2013 account manually in Outlook, please contact your Exchange administrator to get the ExchangeGUID for your mailbox. Then follow Satyajit's suggestion to configure Outlook Anywhere manually in Outlook.
