onenote calculations using ink to math

if I type in the sum 2+2= then press enter onenote calculates an inserts the answer 4

however if I use "ink to math" and draw '2+2' and insert the sum (ink to math wont let me draw 'equal sign), the figures 2+2 appear on my page however I cannot make onenote calculate by completing with "=" and 'enter key', as I could in the previous example.

Please could someone explain how to draw sums using 'ink to math' and have onenote calculate, as I would like to use the 'ink to math' function to calculate more complicated math for my daughter's high school revision.

I use the pre installed office 2013 on my MS Surface RT with Win 8.1

thanks

This is the expected behavior of OneNote "Ink to Math". OneNote can handle simple calculations when you type directly in it, however, "Ink to Math" is use to Insert Ink Equation dialog, it cannot be use for calculation purpose.
