on-Prem Message Trace

EOP Message Trace is nice, but as discussed in this blog, why is this feature not available in Exchange 2013 SP1 on-Prem?

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/02/04/extending-message-trace-to-90-days-in-exchange-online.aspx

In Exchange 2013 on-Prem, as others have mentioned in the blog comments, "Delivery Reports" is too limited.  For exchange diagnostic analysis, specifically with NDR, and Rule processing, "Message Trace" in EOP is nice (as in my environment, all inbound and outbound mail goes through EOP), but I'd also prefer to be able drill to this detail on-Prem for messages I am processing with on-Prem rules.  PowerShell is not as remotely accessible, or simple.

Since we're not the development team, we really can't answer "Why?" questions.  You can use PowerShell for different functional ch

Hi,

As descripted in that blog, this feature applies to Exchange Online and Exchange Online Protection services. On-premises customers have the capability to manage and search message tracking logs in Exchange Server.

Message tracking should be helpful to find out more details.

However, if you want to gather information at more granular level, this automated solution (http://www.exchangereports.net/) could also be a part of your searching criteria and collect the required information into real time.

It appears to be equivalence of message tracking log which is part of on-prem version.

Message tracking log is actually even better as you can configure the retention period to be more than 90 days.

I guess what I am saying is Exchange 2013 SP1 Edge Transport was a flop for "Connection Filtering"; which was the only Anti-SPAM feature that could not be implemented on any other Exchange 2013 Role Servers.

Therefore; Exchange Online Protection becomes the logical (integrated) choice for an Exchange Administrator that previously was using Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange on-Prem.  Having done so, what is lost is true Message Tracking; that was available in Exchange 2007/2010 on-Prem with a GUI  {where Forefront Protection would have been installed } ( that ultimately can be taught to junior IT, and non-IT support technicians ).

At this point, I feel the only reason it remains not yet implemented, is that the 'noise' about it's absence isn't loud enough; and the reason it was implemented in Exchange Online Protection, is because the value is significant for MS Support Engineers to assist their users of EOP.  Now that it's in EOP; I'm staking my claim that it needs to be able to be downloaded and installed in on-Prem Exchange EAC, whether as a EOP subscriber product, an Exchange 2013 SP1 update, or other form of licensed download.  The code has been developed, and just need distributed.
