The FreeSpace space that can be reclaimed will be logged on the Event 1221 with the source "MsExchange IS Mailbox Store". After we got to know how much space will be reclaimed we can do eseutil /d. -eseutil /d creates a temporary edb file while the defragmentation process and once done will remove The original copy and will replace that with the defragmented/compacted copy.the Temporary file will be created in the folder where we have the eseutil.exe file. -we also need to have 110% of database size free on the disk where we have the eseutil.exe file. In case if we don't have that much space then we can follow the procedure on the link below: How to run Eseutil on a computer without Exchange Server -You can copy the files specified on the above link to the drive where have sufficient space and can do eseutil /d after navigating to that location on the cmd prompt. or you can also specify /t switch along with eseutil /d to specify the temporary edb file creation on the drive we have sufficient space. How to defragment with the Eseutil utility (Eseutil.exe) -/t Switch -Also Remember After Esuetil /d is run we have to mount/dismount the store and it's mandatory that must run ISINTEG with the syntax below: ISINTEG -S SERVERNAME -FIX -Test ALLTESTS. In Short your database Size is 372 GIGS.so, you would need to have (372GIGS(100%)+37.2(10%)) GIGS on the drive that's consisting Eseutil.exe. in case if we don't have that much space we can follow the process on the link that i have provided above! You have about 20% free epace in the database and that's just about right for keeping the database at the same size. If you compact the database it will immediately begin to expand as changes are made to the database (index updates, changes in Outlook "views", new messages, etc.). You'll probably grow the database to roughly the same size it is now in a few weeks. I think you're real problem is that the database is too large to be backup/restore in a reasonable period of time. You'd probably do better to make a few new databases and move the mailboxes to them. When you're finished, remove the big database. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
