This application keeps running on the background -task manager will not kill it!- I run Office 13 on a Windows 10 Dell. It is very annoying as it keeps the hourglass running constantly. I could not find a resource online for a solution to this problem, so I thought it might be useful to post a question in this forum. Any help is appreciated!

As far as I know, this service is required to run during the use of any Microsoft Office program, so we can't stop it permanently.

In general, it shouldn't consume that much system resource. Is your Office 2013 update to date? Make sure it is up-to-date. If it is not, try to update it to the latest version and then verify result.

As the issue may also occur if the installation is corrupted, you can go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features to perform an online repair of it.

Thank you for taking time to respond to my question. My understanding from your text is that there is no solution.

I can appreciate that the service is supposed to run during the use of any Microsoft office program as you stated. However, this service runs constantly regardless! What is even more annoying is that task manager DOES NOT kill the application. Honestly, I am seriously considering uninstalling Office altogether and I think Microsoft should not take advantage being the OS provider and offer 'protection' to its Office suite from that position.

As far as resource consumption is concerned, I cannot account details about this, what I can account for is a mostly disturbing, annoying busy hourglass that pops up constantly as the service tries to do something on my machine every few seconds.

Finally, I think the Office version I am using is up-to-date; it should not be a versioning issue.
