non-mailbox enabled users viewing mailbox enabled users' calendar through OWA
I'm trying to set something up, but I'm running into aproblem. I want a non-Exchange user to be able to see an Exchange user's calendar through owa.All systems are 2008 running Exchange 2007Both users are in the same domain."ExUser" has granted Default to be a reviewer on his Exchange Calendar.Now all Exchange (mailbox-enabled) users can view his calendar through OWA using https://<Servername>/owa/<username>@contoso.com/?cmd=contents&f=calendarA mail-enabled user ("CalViewer") gets an exception when she goes to the above URL (ConnectionFailedTransientException).If I remove Exchange attributes on CalViewer, I get a permission error.If I Give CalViewer Full Control to ExUser's mailbox he can view the calendar with no problem. I resolve that there is a permission problem on ExUser's mailbox. Looking into the permissions on the mailbox I don't see anything that leads to mailbox-enabled users. So why can a mailbox-enabled user view the calendar, and I have to give full control (or some other level of permissions) to a non-mailbox-enabled user to have the same effect?Can anyone help me out with this? Is there some level of permissions that are missing?Thanks,--GeneAdditional info, I confirmed that if you change CalViewer to a mailbox-enabled user, they can see the ExUser's calendar through OWA with no additional changes to permissions anywhere.

As I recall, this cannot work exactly as you have described. In order to access a folder within any mailbox in a mailbox store, you must first have a generic logon to *a* mailbox. Any mailbox will do, as you have found, but you must a have a logon before you can open a folder, in your own folder or any other folder.-aseigler

Hi,That's by design. Please understand that giving the shared folder permission via Outlook, that is MAPI permission. The implication of this behaviour is the user who gain access to this folder should be the mail enabled user. If you remove the Exchange attributes, that means the user is a disconnected mailbox. Thus, you need to grant the full permission again to replace the MAPI permission.ThanksAllen

Hello,Shouldn't a mail-enabled user be able access a mailbox-enabled user's calendar? If not, then only mailbox-enabled users can access Exchange calendars.Also, I have at least one case, where a user that has no Exchange attributes, can access the calendar. Is there something in that user I should look at?--Gene
