net stop command for exchange
I am trying to use Windows Server Backup to backup my exchange store. To do so, I need to stop exchange to be able to backup the flat file. Is there a net stop command or something similar that I can use to stop Exchange? I would like to set this up as a basic script to run as a scheduled task and allow me to accomplish the backups. Thank you all for the help and assistance.

Hi Scotty, There are two types of backup for Exchange, Online and Offline. In offline backup you need to shutdown the information store service but why dont you use online backup? NTBackup is an Exchange aware application and can take backup without shutting down information store in online method.
