There are 2 methods. You choose which one is easy for you ;) First Method:- The problem is, the Mailbox GUID associated to the mailbox you are trying to recover is not the same as the user you recreated in AD. (even though the userid is the same) Here is a way to get around this: Exmerge will throw an error something like: Cannot identify the user with MSExchMailboxGuid of {foo}, LegacyExchangeDn is: {name of your deleted user} Now it gets tricky. Copy the MSExchMailboxGUID that ExMerge displays and paste it into notepad. \FE\DF\1D\80\CC\1D\8CJ\AA\7E\F1\E9\DDk\A9\2F Now, remove all of the backslashes: FE DF 1D 80 CC 1D 8CJ AA 7E F1 E9 DDk A9 2F Now, notice above how some of the character groupings above are groups of three, instead of two. We must separate the rightmost bit from the other two: FE DF 1D 80 CC 1D 8C J AA 7E F1 E9 DD k A9 2F Now, for the single characters above that we separated off, we need to replace that ASC II character with it's hex value. Note that the hex values for upper case characters is different than the lower case value: FE DF 1D 80 CC 1D 8C 4A AA 7E F1 E9 DD 6B A9 2F Now, open ADSIEdit/Domain and locate cn=username where username is the name for the user who's mailbox you are trying to restore. Locate the MSExchMailboxGUID attribute, and paste your reformatted GUID (example above) into this field. Restart the SA on your exchange server, and re-run the import (step 2) in Exmerge. You should now be able import the mail because the MSExchMailboxGUID of the exported mailbox from backup now matches MSExchMailboxGUID of your "new" user. Method 2:- Follow the exact steps mentioned below in the KB. You receive an error message when you use the Exmerge tool to retrieve a list of mailboxes from a recovery storage group in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919088 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Hi, You could use the steps below to convert the GUID into msexchmailboxguid value: a. Paste the Mailbox GUID into Notepad. For example, f911a4c2-42de-42c1-8d97-abef7766063c.NOTE: The GUID contains five sections that are separated by hyphens. b. On a blank line in Notepad, type the characters from the first section of the GUID (for example, f911a4c2), in two-character portions separated by backslash character, in reversed order. For example: \c2\a4\11\f9.NOTE: You must include the initial backslash character. c. Type the characters from the second section of the GUID (for example, 42de) in two-character portions separated by backslash characters, in reverse order. For example: \de\42. d. Type the characters from the third section of the GUID (for example, 42c1) in two-character portions separated by backslash characters, in reverse order. For example: \c1\42. e. Type the characters from the fourth section of the GUID (for example, 8d97) in two-character portions separated by backslash characters. For example: \8d\97.NOTE: For this section of the GUID, you do not reverse the order of the two-character sections. f. Type the characters from the fifth section of the GUID (for example, abef7766063c) in two-character portions separated by backslash characters. For example: \ab\ef\77\66\06\3c.NOTE: For this section of the GUID, you do not reverse the order of the two-character sections. g. Add each of the re-typed GUID sections together to form the msExchMailbox value. For example: \c2\a4\11\f9\de\42\c1\42\8d\97\ab\ef\77\66\06\3c h. On a new line in Notepad, use this new msExchMailbox value to create a msExchMailboxGUID entry similar to the following: (msExchMailboxGUID=\c2\a4\11\f9\de\42\c1\42\8d\97\ab\ef\77\66\06\3c) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322308 Thanks, Elvis
