migrating from 2003 exchange to exchange 2007 on Windows 2008
Dear Support We currently have one Exchange 2003 server on a Windows 2003 R2 Server and 2 Domain Controllers one Windows 2003DC & one a Windows 2008 DC We have a new 64bit Windows Server 2008 to install exchange 2007 on. I want to add the new exchange 2007 server to the existing organisation and move the mailboxes over but have seen that I must install exchange 2007from sp1 when usinga 2008 server. All the documentation I can find only refers to migrating using windows server 2003 with exchange 2007 can you send me a link to a how to doc to perform thismigration I have also seen on some forms that Windows Server 2008 and Exchange 2007 will not work with a blackberry enterprise Server can you confirm this or will it work correctly Regards Philip

if you are on the most current release of BES you are fine with e2k7, the migration of users is the same if e2k7 is on 03 or 08 server; you build a new environment and move mailboxes. 2008 Server just adds other features like multi-site clustering. http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/10/27/429522.aspx

This link may help as well - you do need Exchange 2007 SP1 to run on Server 2008, but there is a recommended path to follow to get there. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc296562(EXCHG.80).aspx Nate

Does BES work with Ex2007 running on Windows Server 2008? I was under the impression that some required MAPI components are not in 2008.

Hiya Chap - version BES 4.1 SP 5 support installation on Windows 2008 (however one would assume this mean the full install of BES) - I am not sure about if BES Exchange Server components support Windows 2008. Cheers A
