microsoft office is suddenly not activated and becomes trialed and windows becomes not geniue

Hello,

Hopefully you''ll be able to help me out in my very problematic situation.

one day out of the blue many office 2013 professional Plus installations became trialed and in some cases even the windows itself became not geniue. I've tried to solve it with ospp.vbs commands etc or just activate it manually but it doesn't work and i get the the following message "we're sorry, something went wrong. please try again later (0x80070054)

The even log showes and error with event ID 8198 and the source is "security-spp" which is the software protection service, it also states in the details that office tried to activate but failed with the following error id (0x80070054).on some computers the office will try to configure itself like it does the first time although it's obviously not a first time use.

It even happend on my own computer this morning. on most computers I deployed an image, on my computer I used a fresh install with a fresh windows installation as well so it's not related to "not enough storage space" which relates to (0x80070054) or to other errors like change in hardware or hardware failure. It also not related to any proxy connection because even tho we are a branch office that gets his internet services from the main office we still get an open line for microsoft and other sites and we did activate and still activation microsoft products.

we're using Mac volume licensing and not kms, also we are certain we didn't exceeded the activation quota limit and we're not even close.

I found a work-around but this problem keeps returning after couple of days or more on the same computers that it happend before and sometimes on new ones, but it does not happen on all of them.

The wierd thing is that after the procedure I do the office is suddenly activated and the windows as well.

Restarting the software protection service and trying to activate office doesn't work, solely restarting the computer doesn't work either. only when I combine both actions in the order above, everything works but it keeps coming back and I can't pin point the problem. The real issue is that we have more than 400 workstations in our environment and it happens alot and bugs the end-users with a good reason . Opening a single office file when office is not activated will open the "office configuration window" and will freeze their work and it's a very big problem.

I hope you would be able to give me some advice or a solution.

Thanks.

hi Kosta87

I have the same problem with activation from the begining of the August. In log files i see error 0x80070054. Can you activate products using psexec with -s key?

Hi Andrey, I didn't try to use psexec -s, I understand it's a remote command line tool just don't know what the -s switch stands for. What I did try to use was ospp.vbs which comes built in in the office installation and is a tool for troubleshooting office 2013. I also tried to repair the installation and even re-enter the mac product key but it didn't help.

The only thing that helps is restarting the software protection service or starting it (depends on your case) and than restarting the computer. When the computer boots up everything works but after couple of days it randomally returnes and it's not always the same workstations either.

Try doing the above or use net start sppsvc and than restart the computer and let me know if it helped with your problem.

It's not the permanent solution I'm looking for but at least it works temporarily.

Do you have officescan antivirus on this computers?

Actually I do, officescan agent version 11.0.1454 sp1 Installed on almost every computer.

I thought to mention this but I never thought this could cause a problem.

Now that I think about it, after upgrading a client to that version and couple of others their office became unlicensed even an office 2010 version.
