microsoft exchange reliability
Hi i have a client who uses microsoft exchange server 2007. it is a dell power edge server and exchange is all it does. It is very reliable and very rarily goes off line. But just recently we had a server crash and the exchange server was off line for one day. It wasn't a disaster as it happened late on a friday and so was back up by saturday. what the client wants is a way ensure a 100% up time for the exchange server How can we achieve this

Use CCR or better yet, upgrade to Exchange 2010 and use Database Availbility Groups.

Hardware fails -- all of it -- at some point. Software fails, too. You can use expensive fault-tolerant hardware, Exchange 2010, and Database Availability Groups to come very close to 100% availabilty, but I thing the best you'll ever be able to achieve is five-nines (99.999%), and that's less than 5 minutes of "down-time" per year. Hi Belial-black, If you want to achieve the exchange service online as possible as it can, it is better to use the HA. Some information for you: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(EXCHG.80).aspx As above referred, it is impossible to achieve the 100% time online, but we could use the HA, let the email system more usable.
