mailbox calendar old meetings auto removal (not auto archive)
Hi, I have Exchange Server 2010 and I have issue with user mailboxes calendar items. It seems that Exchange automatically deletes old items from users calendar (like 12 months older or so). Does Exchange have this kind of task. If so, how/where I can modify these properties or settings? I do not mean auto archiving because auto archiving is off for users.

No such task unless you configured retention policys to delelete or archive them. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297955.aspx To get a list of mailboxes and policys assigned to them Get-Mailbox | fl name, ManagedFolderMailboxPolicy, RetentionPolicy Is this for all users or only for a subset of them? lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

According to the feedback from users it seems that it's just for a subset of users. And there are no retention policy that is assing to any mailbox. So there is in no way any other tasks that could delete old calendar items other than auto archive or retention policy?

Not that I am aware of. some thoughts. What I am thinking of is people are using a buggy Exchange Active Sync client that deletes stuff or maybe corrupt them somehow. Perhaps this is an client issue. Can you use OWA to see if all calendar object are correct or if some is still missing. It could be filtered view in outlook that hide some calendar objects. lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

It is commond issue that a third party device might cause a calendar item beening deleted. And, checking in OWA may help us isolate the fault from OST file synchronization related issue. Besides, can you reproduce this issue? If yes, you may enable calendar logging feature on the affected Outlook client; and enable the tracing log on the server side. It will collect the log that might log who or which device has deleted the calendar items. Fiona

To turn on the Calendar logging feature, follow these steps: 1. On the Tools menu, click Options. 2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options. 3. Click to select the Enable Logging (troubleshooting) check box, and then click OK two times. 4. Restart Outlook. 5. Follow the above mentioned steps on Manager and delegate’s machine. 6. The reason we are enabling calendar logging on manager and delegate’s machine is to get all the required information for debug. For further information please refer: Description of the Calendar logging feature in Outlook: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;841615 To turn on the trace log, you need the tool provided by Microsoft customer support service. unfortunately, it is beyond what we can do in the forum as the nature of forum support. I'd like to recommend you to contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers. Your understanding is greatly appreciated and I hope the issue can be fixed soon! Fiona

Yea, me too. These kind of things are hard to pinpoint where the reason actually is.
