mail forwarding from 2000 to 2003
I hope I am in the right area, but i've run into a problem. I have exchange 2000 running currently with a new 2003 server running alongside. I am in the process of moving mailboxes but at current cannot move them all completely over until the end of the week. I cannot figure out why mail sent from people on the old 2000 server(users still not moved) can't be forwarded to people on the 2003 server. I have a queue buildup of messages sent internally and externally on the 2000 server, with the new servers name, they just aren't going past this point. Anyone have an idea of what I needto do to get these messages out of that queue and to forward to the users located on the 2003 machine. 2000 Exchange server standard and 2003 exchange server enterprise Any information or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

As a starting point, try manually sending a message from the 2000 server to the 2003 server using telnet to port 25. This KB article explains the process if you are not familiar with it. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/153119 It is possible that you have connection restrictions set on the SMTP Virtual Server on the 2003 server that are preventing the connection from the 2000 server. tried that, everything worked fine, and I tried with my mailbox on both servers, all messages came through. Now I find it strange that they have no problems and I can send external mail out fine on both, just can't receive on the 2003 server. I can sendemail to the 2000 machine, but not receive from it. The 2003 machine is working fine, there's something in the 2000 machine causing the problem I believe.

Turn up the logging levels for the categories under the MSExchangeTransport on the 2000 machine. You might get a pointer to the problem. Tony

Where is the logging information to setup for it and what exactly should I log? Basically the emails sit in a delivery box on the 2000 server, and i'd need to see info when they come in and what they are doing inside the queue when retrying to send to 2003. SCRATCH THAT< FOUND IT> Will check it out and post any information I might find.

not getting any error messages of any kind. I have set the logging to medium and then the highest point, mail is still sticking in the queue. Any ideas?
