mail forwarding
I have a situation where i'll need to forward incoming mail for a
subset of accounts on our domain to outside addresses(addresses that
are not part of the domain - like webmail accounts). I normally do
this through a mail enabled contact to an outside smtp address and
then have mail for the domain account forwarded to that contact. In
this case the destination server that the AD mail accounts sit on is
going to be decommissioned. Will the mail still route from the AD
account to the contact if the mail server for those accounts is
decommisioned.(there are 10 exchange 2k3 servers in the domain. There
is a master bridghead that routes incoming mail to the member
servers. The server where the accounts reside and that is being
decommisioned is a member server). Thanks

Hi,
If the destination domain is going to be decommissioned your mail will be bounceback because there is no domain exist.Dinesh

Hi,
Did you mean the AD mail accounts located on the database base of the member server which would be decommissioned?
If so, that will not affect the forward behaviour since it's resolved on the Expand DL phase under Categorise. That's on the same level.
Thanks
