load balance mailbox servers exchange 2007
Is there a way to load balance the servers with mailbox roles? There are users that are complaining of slow responses from outlook 2007. I have monitored the performance of the server and don't see any problems. I am using CCR for HA. I have a small user base of about 300 users and no extremely large mailboxes. Trying to find a way to make access fast and make opening their mailbox fast. They also say that moving from mail to mail is very slow.

A mailbox can exist on only one machines so load balancing doesn't make a lot of sense. >There are users that are complaining of slow responses from outlook 2007. Something else? >I am using CCR for HA. I have a small user base of about 300 users and no extremely large mailboxes. Trying to find a way to make access fast and make opening their mailbox fast. Queue length is a little high sometimes but goes back down. Should we run in cache mode? Everyone is local. Thanks

Using cached-mode off-loads a lot of the I/O to the client machine whaich reduces not only the number of IOPS, but also the amount of RPC activity. Hi Norman, Sure, cach mode may be let it more quickly than online mode. And the performace issue is difficult to confirm the exact cause, it maybe caused by the server ability, the network issue, and outlook add-in software, the size of the mailbox and so on. Regards! With my server and the size of my users base I think thats probably not an issue. I am using active client because we use certs. Mailboxes are probably a little high. There are a lot of PST's. I am looking at putting up an archive tool to eliminate both. Could it be the certs causing the delay in opening mail? Is there a fix for this? Thanks,

Maybe you need more RAM on your Mailbox server. Can you tell us the specs(RAM, processor, etc)?

Hi Norman Mattox, Per my known, the CERTs could not be the cause of the delay. Do you update the exchange and the outlook all for the latest version? What about the server CPU and RAM usage of the performace? Regards!
