installing exchange 2007 management console on Windows 2008 R2
Hi I am installing forefront identity manager 2010 and it requires the exchange 2007 management console to be installed on the forefront identity mgr server. My server is 2008 R2 and ms documentation says that it is the correct os for installation. However I cannot find any documentation on how to install exchange 2007 management console on a windows 2008 R2 server. This server is obviously not the exchange server. The exchange machine is remote. would you please help?

First off you need Exchange 2007 Service Pack 3 to begin with. It's the only version of Exchange 2007 supported on Server 2008 R2. When it comes to installing prerequisites, start up Powershell and run: Import-Module ServerManager <ENTER> and then Add-WindowsFeature NET-Framework,Web-Metabase,Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console -restart <ENTER> After the server comes back up, just install the Exchange 2007 SP3 Manaement Tools. Thanks I just download Exchange SP3 off Microsoft site and ran it. I was given an option to install the management console & it worked beautifully. Thank you.

My Exchange Server is 2007 SP1 Rollup 10. I am trying to avoid having to change it over to SP3 (we will be migrating to 2010 in the next couple of quarters). All I really need is the Management Tools to run on a new BES server, which we are trying to deploy on Server 2008R2. Will the SP3 managment tools install and work on my Server 2008R2 member server, and not cause a problem with my Server 2003/Exchange 2007 SP1 deployment? Thanks in advance - Jim
