individual message size limits being overwritten or not working
having issues allowing certain users to receive large emails (over 8 meg) on exchange 2003.Global Settings Message Delivery for both send and receive is 20480kbdefault SMTP Virtual Server - Messages I have NO checkmark on limit mesage size, but it is greyted out and shows 4096these particular individual users have limits of 20480kb.trying to send 8 meg file, but keeps getting returned stating that it is over their limit.I have even went into the default SMTP Virtual Sever and chcked the Limit Message box and put in 20480 kb but it still didnt get delivered.where else can I look?what could cause the users limits to be overwritten?

I followed that, and step 1 is the global setting, and there I have the max KB for send and receiving at 20480 kb.step 2 is the connector setting, I go to Connectors under First Administrative Group, and there are no items to show for this viewstep 3 is the SMTP virtual server setting, I to to Default SMTP Virual Server and select Properties and the Message tab and it shows I have 20480 for Limit Message size to (kb)step 4 is user mailbox setting, and I go to a particular user in Active Directory, go to Delivery Restrictions and it shows 20480 kb for both send and receive.so why does an 8 meg file get blocked?

I did find that I could send an email over 8 meg from one internal address to another, but if I try to send the exact same file from gmail or hotmail it gets blocked. that should be the virtual SMTP settings, correct? since I have that set for 20480 kb it should be more than enough for 8 meg file if so.

Where is it getting blocked?Do you get a non delivery notification in Hotmail? Karlhttp://unlockpowershell.wordpress.com

hotmail just says it cannot be delivered, when I send from gmail the reply says:Technical details of permanent failure:Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 552 552 Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation (state 18).

You say "step 2 is the connector setting, I go to Connectors under First Administrative Group"Is that your only Administrative Group? On the Google reply, does it show an IP address of the rejecting server?Karlhttp://unlockpowershell.wordpress.com
