how to set up linked mailbox in exchange 2003
Hi, I'm trying to setup a exchange resource forest using exchange 2003. However i'm lacking information on how to create the linked mailbox to assoaciate the user from account forest with the placeholder in the resource forest. I think the idea is identical to the Exchange 2007 linked mailbox. But is there anyway we can achieve the same thing in exchange 2003?

Yes you can link Mailbox in Resource forest with accounts in account forest and this is achieved using "Associated External Account" See below for more information about the same. Hi VINOD, Thanks for the link. it's very helpful. These are the steps I've went thru to get the "Associated External Account" working. Forest A (with exchange), Forest B (User account forest), Forest A Trust Forest B 1. Create a User in ForestA, with mailbox enabled. 2. Disable ForestA\User. 3. Create a User in ForestB. ForestB\User 4. Under ForestA\User properties, under "Securities", add ForestB\User into the ACL and allow "Send As" 5. Under ForestA\User Properties, under "Exchange Advanced" > "Mailbox Rights", add ForestB\User into the ACL and allow "Read Permission", "Full Mailbox Access" and "Associated External Account" 6. Verified by logging on to OWA using ForestB\User credentials. 7. The email address for this account will be the email address as seen under ForestA\User email address. We don't actually have to set the MSExchMasterAccountSID as mentioned in the article, because when "Associated External Account" is set, the SID will be populated into this attribute.
