how to rename exchange 2007 server hostname
Hello everybody up there!I need to change the name of an Windows 2008 Sever with Exchange 2007. There are several guides on the internet how to rename exchange server 2003. But nothing can be found aboutrenaming a server with Exchange Server 2007.I already found this Microsoft KB:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/155269But on the bottom it says the article only applies to Exchange 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5. Exchange server 2007 is version 8.0 and 2007SP2 is 8.1.I hope somebody can help me out, thanks in advance!Best regards,Vincent

As per my knowledge , There is no way to rename existing exchange 2007 sevrer. Only way you need to go bak for scratch,Anil

Renaming the server name breaks the Exchangefunctionality when it is installed on it... If you have another hardware then you can moveeverythingacross but the hardware requires to be same, then you need to build a temporary server, move everything across, uninstall Exchange, rename the old server with a new name, move everything back.Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
