Dear members, I red lots of blogs and dig google, no avail, My question is: how to configure OWA in exchange 2003 sp2 with some thing like "mail.domain.com" over internet. Issue environment details: server 2008 Dc, Exchange server 2003 SP2, smtp default virtual server, I configured exchange IIS default website port number to 8078. I have Dynamic IP. I can send and receive mails no problem with gmail and internal mail flow is fine, I can use OWA by using IP Address or Netbios name in internal network only(192.168.x.135:8078(port number))I have no problem to use owa within network. I want to configure owa for clients to use mails from there homes/ outside. Network and setup: I recently purchased domain from Godaddy, and configured mx records. I dont have have Static IP, I use dynamic IP, ISP blocked port 80(no problem I want to use other ports) I hosted webserver and assigned otherthan port 80, it was going fine. you can check my mx records "nztechsolutions.com" and advise me to achieve OWA mail flow over internet using "mail.domain.com:portnumber" I am really stuck here and I want to fix this issue. thanks for you support. Hello,You can check your MX record by visiting http://www.mxtoolbox.comAt the time of my writing this, your mx record points to 0.0.0.0, that's not going to work. Here's what you need to fix to start off :1. Get a static IP address. A dynamic address is not usable for this type of app+ your smtp e-mail will not reach most pservers with spam filters.2. Get a business grade ISP connection, if they block port 80, they are likely blocking port 25 as well. 3. As far as your MX records, you have an A record for nztechsolutions.com that resolves to 118.93.78.9 Your MX record resolves to smtp.nztechsolutions.com, but smtp.nztechsolutions.com resolves to 0.0.0.0. That's not going to work. Have your MX record resolve to nztechsolutions.com or have smtp.nztechsolutions.com resolve to 118.93.78.94. You will need a reverse DNS from your ISP, again you need a business grade ISP5. Exchange OWA will configure IIS, but you need to add a host header file mail.nztechsolutions.com. This means you will need to add an A record for mail.nztechsolutions.com that resolves to your public IP address.6. Change the IIS site to run off another port like 81. Exchange OWA will configure IIS, but you need to add a host header file mail.nztechsolutions.com. This means you will need to add an A record for mail .nztechsolutions.com that resolves to your public IP address. Now I want to know how to add A record for mail.nztechsolutions.com in Domain configuration please. Same way you added test.nztechsolutions.com. You open Domain manager in Godaddy and add another record that points to 118.93.78.9 only instead of test you use the host name mail.Open Domain Manager -> Select Domain Name -> Total DNS Control -> ANames -> Add New Record ->In the "host Name" field type mailIn the "Points to address" field type 118.93.78.9This of course is assuming you are using Godaddy as your DNS.Cheers,MiguelMiguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer & Network Support, Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase Sharepoint Site

awsome FALCON It was going very good, you gave me a right a direction, I was testing this at my home pc in vmware environment. Now I can access OWA as per above discussion, NOw I cant send mails to external domains like gmail hotmail etc,, Receiving mails from external is not a problem and internal works fine, I believe this is happening becuase I use Dynamic IP I think Getting error like this: the following recipient(s) could not be reached: users@gmail.com on 17/03/2010 22:48 There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
