how to backup the first storage group in Exchange 2003
I am in the process of upgrading my server where I have Exchange 2003 running. I would like to temporarily backup/copy/move it another server just to hold until I reinstall the operating system. Then I would restore it back to that server and install a clean copy of Exchange 2003. How can I successfully do this and get all of the settings, data smoothly? I am currently using Backup Exec with the Exchange Agent, however, I noticed that it lists the "First Storage Group", I see the folders mailboxes and public folders but there is nothing in them. Also, there is a large byte count.. not sure if the mailboxes are there and I just can't see them? I use to see them a while back ago. Anyway.. I didn't want to rely on that backup/restore option. Is there another way?? Please help!

If i understand well, you may go with /DisasterRecovery Swicth when rebuild exchange again and restores DB and PF. Please elaborate much more about your requirement. If you see that mailbox is not present in DB but its in AD then below KB will help you: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924170Anil
