how much megabytes recover ? offline desfragmentation in exchange 2007
hi. i have a database this have: - 50 gbytes if you sum the sizes of all mailboxes.- and 58 gbytes taken in hard disk space. when i defrag the databse offline i recover only 500 mb my question is : how much megabytes must i recover ? i see a event in application event log msexchangeis mailboxstore eventid:1221 that say me : databse xxx have 700 megabytes of free space after online desfragmentation has terminated. is this the megabytes that can i recover in the offline desfragmentation? why i recover only 700 mbytes and not 8000 mb? the database need growing for made his operations , and then need the 8000 mbytes? Thanks. Regards. mcse 200x + mesaging 2000 2003 2007 2010

Yes you recover what's reported in the event id 1221. Summing up the sizes of the mailboxes not necessarily equal the DB size, you also need to account for the dumpster, the setting the keeps deleted mailboxes for x days or deleted items for x days.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
