how do i regain administrator privileges that Iost with the last computer repair?
If I want to update to the current version of adobe reader and flashplayer, and I have lost administrator privileges to be able to remove the older versions first, and cannot download the administrator programs as a user with limited abilities on a hosted computer. I was thinking if I could start in dos and have the welcome screen for windows pop up instead of some bypassed pop-up that was not the login I had when I had administrator privileges, and the last computer repair did me in --I would like to regain administrator privileges back. I have been discriminated against unfairly, and this computer needs some integration, I cannot defragment, do a system restore, and I would hestitate to clean up the computer with so many missing programs, due to the fact that updates for windows are not even enabled, so for instance, I cannot even use windows media player--it says something like the proper program has not been installed, and I need to gain administrator privileges to make sure windows and internet explorer updates are being installed. Since the repair, even my microsoft security essentials has not even been accessed, everything I need is firewalled, and I was wondering if changing the order of the start-up programs, possibly removing templates(is this where my limited access exists--in templates?) I read about running some command with a, "mmc"in it, but cannot find that page. The computer memory is running out, and I am the host computer. Without the ability to insert a disc for Windows XP, or in other areas of the computer I have seen this computer's description to be Windows XP Professional, and still others it says that it is Windows XP Professional Family something or other. Can you give me any suggestions? I try and create an account, and then suddenly someone changes my password and my security question, and it is very depressing that I cannot play The Sims Social, sounds silly, a facebook computer game, after all I am an engineer; however, I have been labeled disabled, and I unwrongfully was slighted my administrator privileges and there is no guest pop up anymore. I have a disc to restore and back up this computer, and I cannot even run it, yet alone change the time to do a system restore, and file sharing has been set up, so I need assistance getting my administrative privileges, updates for windows and internet explorer, adobe, adobe flashplayer and shockwave, and windows media up-to-date, no updates have been downloaded since February, when the man came to fix this computer, that I even found out was not plugged into the phone jack before he got it out of the house. I would like to use my printer, and I saw a possible file, that was hidden, but the computer says that it does not recognize a printer. Nothing is synchronized and all other computers in the house are relying on this one. This is the host computer. Should I enable file sharing? does that enable programs such as word perfect(missing since the last repair accessing me limited access), and does that just let other people mess up my files--I thought that this was Service Pack 3, and now I am not so sure.
