hide from exchange address lists opetion also hide from Distribution list.
Recently we migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, we have approx 600 external mail contacts and all of them are hide from Exchange address lists. So definitely when i see GAL i can not see them as per expected. My actual problem is: Those users are also member of some distribution group and all distribution groups are visible in GL as per my setting (I dont have hide them), but when i see member property of DL i can not see external mail contacts which are hide from exchange address lists. AS soon as i remove "hide from exchange address lists" tick mark its visible in both (contact and DL), but i dont want to keep visible external contacts in GAL but they should be visible in Distribution group. any suggestion please?

Hi, As far as I know, there's no workaround for this. Hidden recipients will not show up as a member of a Distributiongroup.Martina Miskovic

Hi Martina, Exchange 2010 is configured in coexistence with Exchange 2007 and same group and users are visible in Exchange 2007 user mailbox, only users of exchange 2010 cannot see external contacts under Distribution Lists whose property has been set as Hide from Exchange address lists. I have created new distribution point and added local as well as external contacts, also set external contacts property to Hide from Exchange address lists then also it doesn't showup to Exchange 2010 users but same thing i can see from Exchange 2007 mailbox user.

Hi, Yes, Exchange 2010 doesn't show hidden recipients and that is new in this version and as far as I know, there is no way to configure it to do so.Martina Miskovic

but i dont want to keep visible external contacts in GAL but they should be visible in Distribution group. You can try to modify the ShowInAddressBook attribute of contacts. 1,Leave the "Hide from Exchange adress lists" blank, 2,Navigate to ShowInAddressBook(right click on one contact->Properties->Attribut Editor), remove the following values(Please do it against a test contact first): CN=All Contacts,CN=All Address Lists... CN=Default Global Address List... Frank, Its pretty cleared from your previous post link that, the hidden recipient is actually hidden in Exchange 2010. Even its no longer visible in Distribution group.
