From available info I've found - that error indicates a problem with the registry of some kind which would correlate to your problems installing Win7 updates.

Suggest you resolve you system issues first - never a good idea to leave something like that unattended since it indicates an underlying problem which most likely will only get worst over time resulting in potential "compound error" scenarios that are generally impossible to troubleshoot.

If you used to use Office 2007 now wants to use Office 365, I suggest you remove Office 2007 completely first, unless you still need some programs in Office 2007.
