exporting/ backing up inbox for Outlook Web Access
Is there a quick and dirty way to export or backup an inbox? I need to copy the contents of one inbox to a backup file then to a cd.

In Outlook Web Access? No. But how about the export function in Outlook? Or do you not have access to Outlook?Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Are you running an Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 mailbox server? Do you have access to the mailbox you want to export? Do you have admin permissions to the Exchange server? If so there are a couple of ways to get this done.....if you have Exchange 2003 we can work with that as well. Let me know which version of Exchange you are running and your permission level and I will send you some steps.Chris cbfive.com

Alright so here are the steps if you have questions please let me know. 1. Download exmerge from this website (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=429163ec-dcdf-47dc-96da-1c12d67327d5&displaylang=en)2. Once you have the file downloaded it will come with a word document that you will want to look over. Some of the important points are, create an account that has send as/receive as rights against the database where the user account is homed and add the account as an Exchange view only. If you need help with getting to this point please let me know you cannot use a domain admin or an Exchange admin account to run this tool. Well you can but I will not go into that now.3. Once you run Exchange merge you will get a pst file for the account. Now you can back up that file to a cd or if you want to get the content out of the files continue on to the next steps if you want to content out of the PST or confirm the PST file is in good health.4. Microsoft is a great company for allowing trail software. You can download Office 2007 and install the office suit on a computer. You have 30 days so that should be plenty of time (you might want to consider purchasing at least one copy as well.) 5. Attach the PST file to Outlook and you should be able to move the data out of the PST file to any location.Note (if you do not allow for Outlook connections to your Exchange server NP, just create a false gmail account and connect Outlook to that gmail account. Your goal is to get Outlook open and working. If you have questions let me knowChris cbfive.com
