exchange services
Hi,
I recently installed a new network with the following config:
W2K3 R2 32bit running DC, DNS and DHCP
W2K3 R2 64bit runningExchange 2007 andDNS.
When the Exchange server starts the following error is always logged:
MSExchange System Attendant Mailbox 4001 A transient error occured
This causes the Exchange Information Storeand System Attentdant services not to start - however I can manually start them without anyproblems.
I have tried serveral fixes none of which have worked:
Configured the Recovery tab on both SA and IS services to restart the service on first, second and subsequent (every 1 minute) failures.
Configured a dependancy on IS for SA and added aBootPause of 180 seconds for the SA service.
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Many thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Have a look at, http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=4001&eventno=8880&source=MSExchange%20System%20Attendant%20Mailbox&phase=1you can find the comments of users who were facing same problem
Which edition of Exchange 2007 are you using? If standard then what is the size of database?

Amit,
Thanks for the reply. Adding a WINS server sorted the problem!
