exchange server forwarding to spam filtering company
I have inherited a server setup by previous IT people. They have their in-house exchange server forwarding to an outside firm that is filtering junk mail then sending the mail back to the exchange box. the company no longer wants to use the outside firm but I have been informed from the outside firm that if they turn off the service my client will no longer get email since DNS is forwarding everything to them. I have looked through DNS and see nothing forwarding. Server is SMBS 2003 sp2, exchange 6.5I am not familiar with exchange and cannot find anywhere in any configuration file that has things forwarding to an outside address. Thanks

They are probably talking about the MX record for the domain in public DNS. You can check using a website like:http://www.mxtoolbox.com/to see where the mail for your domain is accepted. If its their gateway, then you'll have to ask whomever is responsible for maintaining your public DNS zone to change it to your server.

Also check the SMTP Virtual Server to make sure that you are allowing connections from more than just outside that mail service after you turn it off.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com
