exchange server 2003 large attachment receiving problem
We have a Windows SBS Server 2003 With Exchange Server 2003. And Symantec mail Security For Exchange installed. Since from last week we are facing a problem receiving Email with attachment more then 1 mb. Before last week we able to receive up to 8mb of attachment emails. I have increased a incoming mail Size in Global Delivery option in Exchange System Manager. Default it was 10mb I have increased to 15 MB then also im not getting attachment Emails, no problem in sending Email with Large Attachment Internally. Even I didn’t get log also where my mails goes, I have enable SMTP Diagnostic Logging also but fail to hit any cue. mails without Attachment is Working perfectly. This is Weird Problem. Aslam

Hi, Kindly disable Symantec mail Security to make sure its a exchange issue or might be some thing caused by "Symantec mail Security ", if they also u are not able to receive mails. kindly make sure that you haven't installed any patch on exchange recently.Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Check to see if you've message restriction in place on SMTP Virtual Server? So if this is the problem sending emails only to internet then ...i wonder if there is any smarthost through which you're sending out emails that has size restriction in place? Please provide the NDR also. Regards, Pushkal MishrA

I have Done Disabling Symantec Mail Security services But No luck. I Have No problems Receiving Email, upto 1 mb of mails No Problem to received. Internal mails more then 2mb is working. But Any Recipient Send Mail with attach more then 2 mb will Fail. We have Firewall, Any mails Transaction internally or Externally Will Logs in FW. But More then 2 mb attachment not received nor Logs in FW also. Aslam

Looking at the warning message, it appears that connection was reset for some reason. Anyway few more question.. Does the IP 10.151.4.3 belongs to your domain ..? if not then i see that gmail couldn't establish connection to your domain's MX to even initiate delivery.... Is this just with one internet domain you're having issues or more then one, if more then i think we should try reproduce the issue to see if the symptoms are same or not. Could you also confirm that all the hopes betwwen MX server to the exchange server are configured correctly in terms of size?Regards, Pushkal MishrA

Yeah All Configuration Is Correct MX Server to The Exchange Server, this Issues comes from last Week. 10.151.4.3 is not my Domain IP. If Any Issue is in MX then our Mail Server Totally out off Work Right? But Still Im Sending Receiving Email With Attachment upto 1 mb. We have 1st Level Filtering is FW (Fortigate) And 2nd Level is Symantec Mail Security. If my FW or Syemtac Will Block will get a log but i didnt find Any logs in FW or in Symentac.Aslam

Here is a thing....Given the header information...it doesn't appear to be an issue at your side....i think...you should reproduce this with other domains like yahoo or hotmail etc... Also i think we need to take a network trace from the client machine where you'll be sending emails from...so we could see what's going on at the network layer.Regards, Pushkal MishrA

Actually The Problem Was not in MS-Exchange Server, Problem Was is in Firewall Policy. I have disabled that policy which is blocking to Receive more then 2 mb of Email Attachment. And know its working fine know.Aslam
