exchange log file growing
One Exchange serve with one storage group more than 100 GB with the log file size of 104 GB. I know it should not exceed more than 50 GB.When the Exchange backup is done the log file remains the same. The exchsnge admin says it will remain the same since it is information store but according to me it should reduced after the full backup is done.thanks

You are right. Ideally log files should get purged after FULL BACK UP. Make sure that your back up application (net back up or backup exec) is configured to purge the log files after every full back up.Not recommended but you can also try enabling the circular login.Raj

Holy moly, no, not recommended at all - don't try enabling circular logging.Look at the event logs associated with the backup activity and see why the logs aren't getting purged.i'm curious though, you say there is a single file of 104GB for log. That's not the exchange log file. Exchange log files are each 5MB. Are you talking about the log directory having 104GB or a particular file having 104GB?

First step check the Backup Schedule for Exchange make sure The Storage Group and Database is selected. Second check if the backup is set to Normal/Fullbackup coz Normal backup and Incremental backup purge the logs. Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

What’s the exchange version? Please check the event in the application log after the backup as Andy suggested
