You cannot change the Exchange server name. The servername is stamped in several places and you cannot change them all to accomplish this.If the servername is important to you, you have to set up a new server with correct name and migrate mailboxes and PF to it.lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

PF is short for Public FolderThere is no button to migrate, you have to use both server in parralell for during the migration. Migration is when you move all resources from server A to server B. that is replicate PF and move mailboxes and some other settings.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931 lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

Hi Kamran Please understand that the Exchange configuration information is actually saved in AD database. Therefore, reinstall the computer will not remove the original server from the AD database. At this time, I suggest you read the following articles: Exchange 2003 Disaster Recovery Operations Guide http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125070(EXCHG.65).aspx Microsoft suggests recover the Exchange server with same name. By using this method, we do not need to reconfigure Exchange Server as it will still use the original server configuration. Nevertheless, if you would like to recover Exchange Server by using another name, I suggest you consider the following process: 1. Recover the original Exchange server with same name by using /disasterrecovery switch. Recovering a Failed Exchange 2003 Member Server Using the Disaster Recovery Switch http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Recovering-Failed-Exchange-2003-Member-Server-Using-Disaster-Recovery-Switch.html 2. Create a new Exchange server and migrate Mailbox Store and Public Folder from the old server to the new server Migrating to a New Exchange 2000/2003 Server - Swing Migration http://www.amset.info/exchange/migration.asp 3. Remove the original Exchange server by using Add/Remove Programs: Note1 : If the original server is the first server in AG, you also need to refer to the artilce provided the Lasses How to remove the first Exchange Server 2003 computer from the administrative group http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931/en-us Note 2: Exchange migration is a big topic. If you unclear how to do it, I suggest you contact PSS support regarding the detailed steps to perform the migration. In addition, before migrating Exchange Server in the work environment, I suggest you test it on your lab firstly. Mike
