exchange database migration

Hi,

We are encountered some issue on the array (raid 5) and plan to re-configure the array which is a database and log location. We plan to dismount the database, move all the database and logs to ext hdd and re-configure the array and re-assign the partitions, move back the database and logs from ext hdd, mount back the database. Is it work?

The Operation system is on raid 0 which is separate virtual drive and we will not reconfigure.

OS = raid 0

database+log = raid 5

That would technically work but depending on the size of your DB, you may experience a longer than desired outage window.

Would it be possible to setup a DAG first?

Hi There,

If possible you can try and go ahead with Raid 50 for Exchange DB and Raid 1 for Logs that would give you better for long run as the performance and redundancy would be higher than raid 5, and raid 1 will help logs for good writing speed.
