exchange LOGs files are only for one day
Hi,
One of my clients have a Exchange Server 2007 installed and running, but the transaction logs are only for the day, and the circular logging is not enabled. How can I fix this?Raulito

The only thing that flushes the logs is a backup.
If you look on the properties of the database, what does it say for the last backup time?

Hi Vientos,
How about your question? Any updates?
Which backup software do you use?
If it is Ntbackup, please check whether there is Event ID: 210,220,221,223,224,213Frank Wang

Message tracking logs cover a single day. Are you sure you're not confusing message tracking logs with transaction logs? What logs specifically are you referring to? What are the filenames and folder paths?

The logs are the transaction logs for the databse of Exchange Server.
The path are:
f:\program files\microsoft\exchange Server\mailbox\<database name>\E0000xxxxx.log File Size 1MB
All the transaction logs are stored in these disk, the DB are stored in another disk.Raulito

The transaction logs for Exchange Server are stored only for the present day, and of the others days are missing!, all the functions for Exchange Server are working fine, but the logs for another days are disturbing to my client.
Circular logging is disabled in all DBRaulito

Is there anything in the Application event log indicating that the event logs have been purged? See if you can correlate an event to the times that you think the logs are being purged.
The behavior you are observing is not normal unless there are daily backups being taken. Exchange does not delete transaction logs by default, and even if circular logging is enabled, it won't keep just current day's logs, in that
case it uses only a very few logs.

Hi Raulito,
You can make an audit to see who delete a specified log.
Go to properties of log-> security->audit->add->everyone->audit "delete".
You should enable the Group policy:
Local security Policy->Local Policies->Audit Policy->Audit object access->"success"
Check the Security events in the Event Viewer.
If there is a backup process to delete the log, the User should be "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM".(Windows server 2003)Frank Wang
