exchange 2010 set up but no exchange tabs in active directory
I have exchange 2010 set up (it seems) and Administrator has a mailbox. I can't add any mailboxes for the domain users. Any suggestions? I have Exchange running on server 2008 standard x64 and my domain controller is 2003 R2. The forest and domain functional levels are 2003. I only have these two servers in this environment.

Hi there,I presume you have come from Exchange 2000/2003? :-)Exchange 2007 and 2010 now manage Exchange functionality in the Exchange Management Console, and is also supported using the Shell.Open the Exchange Management console and expand: Microsoft Exchange | Microsoft On-Premises | Recipient ConfigurationOliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |

Hi mostiky,Firstly, i'd like to let you know that the exchnage server 2007 & exchange server 2010 are different from the legacy versions. To let you know a simple difference, in exchange 2003, we have ADUC and ESM separately. But in E2K7 and E2K10, we have the functionality of ESM and ADUC in the EMC (Exchange management console). So, you can add a user in the Mailbox under the "Recipient configuration" container in the Exchange Management Console. If you have a legacy mailbox, the mailbox type will be specified in the "Recipient Type details" column.Let us know if you have any questions.- Nagesh

My personal recommendation is Softerra Adaxes (v.2010.2). They included Exchange support recently and it has become very easy to manage Exchange mailboxes and even automatically create them in the process of user creation. Supported Exchange versions: 2003, 2007, 2010. Thank you.

The problem I have found with this is that I cannot add a user to groups or copy an existing user while in the EMS. I can create the user, create the mailbox but then I have to move to ADUC to finish the task. Seems like a waste.
