I suggest you create new mailboxdatabase and move all the mailboxes including system/arbitration mailboxes.

Please check these

FYI  AvailableNewMailboxSpace is the logical space within a store that is available for Exchange to reuse when messages are deleted and purged from the da

If you have enough free space and running an Exchange known backup daily you can keep it as it is.

Exchange known backup will truncate the logs which will clear up the logs.

12GB of whitespace is not really worth saving considering you either need to do an offline defrag which can be many hours of downtime or more depending on the database size and so is not recommended or you need to move the mailboxes to a different database and delete this database which means you need enough free space for this. I would leave the databases as they are. As a side note, Exchange does its own maintenance which includes database compaction, defragmentation and checksumming - http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2011/12/14/database-maintenance-in-exchange-2010.aspx.

Later down the line when you start to run out of space on a drive then you can either extend the disk (if using a SAN volume or VM) or create a new disk with a new mailbox database and move some mailboxes. Another option could be to create a new mailbox server.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Thanks.

Hi,

Please use the below mentioned command to check the actual white space in the exchange database . http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2013/08/20/how-to-check-database-white-space-in-exchange.aspx

If you have DAG , you can refer to the below blog to complete defragmenting:

I hope above suggested references clarifies you concern.

White space is the database storage area that has become available for storing new data because of the deletion of existing data. To get in more details on database defragmentation and ways to find the white space in Exchange Database, please have a look on this informative blog post that might helps you: http://www.lepide.com/blog/the-puzzling-mathematics-of-white-space-in-exchange-database/

You may also take help from below given earlier discussed thread having suggested solution that might helps you to get this job done -
