You shouldn't be planning to connect Outlook to Exchange via POP3 or IMAP4 because neither provide as good an experience as MAPI. You should be planning on using Outlook Anywhere and Autodiscover. You can find the steps for deploying Outlook Anywhere in the Exchange 2010 documentation in TechNet. Your challenges will be in defining DNS entries, opening the appropriate holes in your firewall, directing the traffic to the right place, configuring your URLs, and obtaining the proper certificate. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Outlook doesn't talk to a Unified Messaging server. A Unified Messaging server connects your Exchange server to your phone system to allow voice mail to be deposited into the mailbox store. The generic answer to the certificate question is that you should have a UCC certificate from a public CA that contains at a minimum the hostnames for OWA, ActiveSync, Autodiscover and, if you're upgrading from Exchange 2003 and 2007, legacy. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
