exchange 2007 without AD
Hi, I have to export-mailbox from an exchange 2007 environment but without Active Directory domain controller.. Yes the server is a cloned virtual machine isolated from the lan and I want to export a mailbox but I haven't any DC on the virtual lan... Can I do it ? How ? other solution: can I export the AD db and Import it to the exchange server so that I can manage the exchange db ? How ? thanks very much for any help.

Hi You are better off shutting down a DC and P2Ving (clone it) to the virtual environment. Steve

Agree with Steve that do make this work you need to clone the Exchange and DC box to make it so that you can mount the database and connect via Outlook to Export to PST OR to using the Mailbox Export cmdlets. Also you want to ensure that you do this in a sandbox environment, i.e. do not keep it connected to your production network or very bad things will happen. Another option is to use a 3rd party product like Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp which will allow you to open any OFFLINE Exchange database and once opened you can Browse, Search Export Mailboxes, Folders and Individual items to PST, MSG & XML or if desired you can import/push data direct from an offline database into the original Production or any Alternate Exchange server even cross version i.e. 2003 --> 2007 --> 2010 etc. Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope

HI Sorry You query is not much clear as you want to export the mailbox or mailbox server you are pointing tooo? If want to export the mailbox or more than follow the below cmds To use the Exchange Management Shell to export mailbox data in Exchange 2007 SP1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To export the special folders and empty folders of the mailbox to a folder in the destination mailbox, run the following command: Export-Mailbox -Identity <MailboxIdParameter> -TargetMailbox <MailboxIdParameter> -TargetFolder <Folder_Name> To export data to a .pst file, run the following command: Export-Mailbox -Identity <MailboxIdParameter> -PSTFolderPath <Path_Of_PST_Folder>\<File_Name>.pst To export data from a group of mailboxes, such as all mailboxes for which the user title begins with "VP," run the following command: Get-User | where { $_.Title -ilike "VP*" } | Export-Mailbox -TargetFolder <Folder_Name> -TargetMailbox <MailboxIdParameter> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266964(v=exchg.80).aspx Apart from this if this is for cloning the exchange then better clone the entire VM alone and you can clone the AD Server (DC) as steve mentioned with P2V (physical to virtual), but why don;t you create a ADC( adition domain controllor) on a Virtual lan.
