exchange 2007 not read updating the address list
I'm in the middle of mirgrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. All users are using Outlook 2007. When we create new users in Exchange07, the users who mailboxes are on ex07 and running Cached Exchange mode cannot do a check name for the new user, nor does the name shows up in the global address list. When we turn off Cached exchange mode the new user shows up in the global address list but the user still can not run a check name on the person. OWA in 2007 works perfect. Users who have not move to the new exchange server and are still on exchange 2003 are not having this problem. What are we doing wrong? When I look at my exchange 2007 server in EMC, under Offline address Book, It had the Default offline address list generation server set to the existing exchange 2003 server. I move it to the new exchange 2007 server, but still no help. Am I suppose to run some commands?

Moving the generation server is easy, right-click on the OAB and select move. See link. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123917(EXCHG.80).aspx OAB generation happens during the maitenance period usually once a day. You can force an update by right clicking on the OAB and selecting Update. Outlook 2007 and 2010 are set up get its OAB through web distribution, so make sure that is set up correctly and you can see the files being generated on the CAS server. http://www.howexchangeworks.com/2009/08/how-offline-address-book-works-in.html http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2006/08/25/724619.aspx Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

I've move the OAB to the new exchange 2007 server already so it is now the generating server. but unless I take cached exchange mode off I cannot find my newly created users in the global address book.

Did you update run on the OAB? By right-click the OAB and selecting Update or the maitenance window pass? The OAB only get refreshed during this process. If you want to immediately download a new OAB in Outlook, you will have to select Send/Receive and select the Address Book. Or let enough time pass. The Application event log on the Exchange server will let you know if your OAB is generating correctly.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Hi, When you run outlook in cached mode, the offline address book (a OAB file) is used instead of the global address book. This OAB file is saved on local. Generally, Outlook updates the OAB file on the client every 24 hours. Please try to download the offline address book manually from Outlook as TWHarrington said. If you still cannot see the new users or you get a error while downloading the OAB, I recommend you create a new offline address book: 1. Open EMC, expand to Organization Configuration->Mailbox, click Offline Address Book tab. 2. Create a new Offline address list. Right click this new address Book list and click Set as Default. 3. Expand to Server Configuration->Mailbox, in Database Management tab, right click your mailbox database and choose properties. 4. In Client Setting tab, specifying this new Offline Address Book for your Mailbox database. 5. Restart the following services: Microsoft Exchange Information store, Microsoft Exchange File Distribution. 6. Open C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\OAB, make sure that the OAB Files has been copied. Then try to download the OAB again from outlook. More information about Exchange 2007 Offline Address Book Web Distribution, please refer the following website: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/15/431502.aspx
