exchange 2007 mailbox role to CCR
Hi We're about to deploy our exchange environment but we're being held back by a couple of issues, we've only got the one server to act as the mailbox role at the moment but the other is on the way. We're planning to use one box for the cas/hub and finally 2 boxes for CCR, can we go ahead with the setup using only the one server in the mailbox role, then when the other arrives, add it as a mailbox server then and them to CCR? Cheers

Hi,You can go ahead with one BOX in CCR role, As you need two physical server (A/P A/A).If simply you want to create mailbox server without CCR then you can go ahead.Installing, Configuring and Testing an Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) Based Mailbox Server :: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Installing-Configuring-Testing-Exchange-2007-Cluster-Continuous-Replication-Based-Mailbox-Server-Part3.htmlhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721.aspxAnil

When we deploy CCR, there are two server roles (Active Mailbox Server role, Passive Mailbox Server role) You can select Active Mailbox Server role during the installation process on the first arrived box, and suspend the storage group copy, resume the replication between active node and passive node when passive node is in place. However, one thing you must consider is Log Truncation. Because if the log files havent been replayed on the passive node, they cant be truncated from active node Please see Log Truncation section in Continuous Replication Deep Dive

Hi and thanks to you all for your comments and links, there is plenty here for me to get on with while waiting for the second box to arrive, I'll read more into the possible "Log Truncation" issue and get my servers in place. Thanks again Phil
