exchange 2007 alias
Hi all, Exchange 2007 SP2 Is there a standard or recommendation for exchange alias to use? should we use user logon name as alias or first initial plus last name as alias? Does it matter? Thank you.

Hi, That is all up to you and the company policy. I have been in several different situations, but most common setup request I have had contained initials@domain.com /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Agreed, it's up to you and what is most appropriate. We use the username for the alias, and give a second email address (a.n.other@) as the primary SMTP address.Steve Goodman Check out my Blog for more Exchange info or find me on Twitter

The default alias is the user logon name: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998197(EXCHG.80).aspx Assuming you are using the native Exchange 2007 management tools to mail-enable resources, then you shouldn't have to worry about invalid characters. If you use any other process to mail-enable objects, like a metadirectory product, then make sure they aren't using any of the invalid alias characters: http://www.rm.com/Support/TechnicalArticle.asp?cref=TEC1571510&nav=0&referrer=rss
