exchange 2003 decommissioning
How exchange 2003 and 2007coexist? I mean wheneve I move a exchange 2003 user mailbox to exchage 2007 do I need to change MS Outlook setting also to talk to new server? After transferring all mailboxes from 2003 to 2007 do I need to go each and every user and change outlook client setting to talk to new server or is there any way to automate this process?

Hello, You do NOT have to change outlook profile to point new server manually, it will be automatically done. Butrepointingof outlook profileto new serveronly happensifold serveris available online so make sure that it is not removed immediately after moving all the mailboxes and all outlook clients are connectedat least one time before decommissioning otherwise you need to do that manually.

Hi, Yes, you dont need to change Outlook profile and it will be configured automatically. For your reference, here is a similar situation: In Exchange 2003 mailbox movement 1) For moves within the site (ie - the moves that you've always been able to do), or for moves between sites when you're in Exchange 200x native mode, you do NOT need to do anything with the Outlook profile. Outlook will attempt to connect to the original server the next time you start Outlook and will be automatically redirected to the proper server. 2) For move ACROSS sites in Exchange 200x mixed mode (the new Exchange 2003 SP1 feature), you DO have to run the Exprofre tool or recreate the Outlook profile. This is because the mailbox is no longer really associated with the same directory object. See here for more information: http://blogs.msdn.com/evand/archive/2004/08/24/219579.aspx Hope this helps. Thanks, Elvis
