excel 2013 starts up with blank screen when opened

after reading all these pages with a zillion different possible causes and wasting hours I could not solve the problem.

We paid a huge amount for 15 licences - so we demand! a answer from Microsoft - quick.

Try to repair your Office, and check if there is other version of Office in your computer (uninstall it).

its a blank brand new installation without an other prior version installed - (only  Office 2013)

repair of the new office 2013 version installation is the first thing I did. no change - same problem.

The system does contain xls files from Office 2003 files

With a blank screen, is it gray screen or white screen?

Did you get any error messages?

Try to open the file in safe mode, and you can take a screenshot about "blank screen".

At last you can perform a clean boot in Windows and check if Excel works fine.

Its only the spreadsheet area that has the WHITE screen  - a screenshot can't be included because I get the "your account needs to be verified" message and the procedure to do that dead ends without a possibility ( found hundreds of other users with the same problem )

Excel didn't crash - we can operate menu items and when we click the spreadsheet the cell reference ( like B3 or H3 gets selected ) the content isn't visible.

BUT:

If we first open excel with a blank spreadsheet and the open the .xlsx file then we can load it perfectly. So safe mode isn't necessary I guess.

If we click the .xlsx file from a file-location or from an email attachment then we get the BLANC screen.

The file association seems to be messed-up. Although its a blank new installation WITHOUT ANY older versions of office installed !

On an OTHER  computer we have open office installed and there the same file opens perfectly.

manually removed office 2013 following the microsoft guidelines. Reinstalled it - same problem.

Waist of time.
