Hi,

Based on the error message, the issue seems to be that you are not able to send/receive emails in Outlook?

For the error 0x8004210E, we usually suggest:

Temporarily disable antivirus software and anti-spam software

Use Web access to delete malformed e-mail messages

As you mentioned you have performed the steps above, I suggest you also try these two steps below:

1. In case the data file(.pst or .ost) is corrupted, please run Scanpst.exe to scan and repair the possible problems:

Outlook 2013

32-bit Windows C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
64-bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
64-bit Outlook C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
Click-to-Run C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15

Outlook 2010

32-bit Windows C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14
64-bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
64-bit Outlook C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

Outlook 2007

32-bit Windows C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
64-bit Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12

2. The send/receive settings may be corrupted, we can try to find the .srs file and rename it to .old, Outlook will generate a new one the next time it starts, check if the problem persists. The .srs file location is below:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook

I hope this is helpful.

Thank you for your replies; I have ran the Scanpst.exe, more than one time. It will "repair" files, and work for a few hours....then, suddenly, I'm getting the 0x8004210e message again. I run it again & it may or may not work.

I can receive my email without a problem, "when it works".  I am not adding or deleting any programs or data, in between it "working and receiving error messages".

Any other suggestions, will be appreciated.

Thanks....

I attempted to download the "Configuration Analyzer Tool (OFFCAT), but when I the site, it gave me options of what files I wanted to download, rather than "one complete tool"...so, I didn't download anything, until I knew what to "click on" that I wanted.

Thank you,

Thank you; I did re-read the instructions and downloaded and ran the program...with no good results.  I am once again unable to receive my email using Outlook.  I have run the scanpst program more than one time, too.

Thanks again,

Good Morning; I have done everything suggested; including defrag of my drive.  Still no email continue to get the error 0x800421e msg.

Any other suggestions?  If not, how do I reach the MS customer service to help me online?

I'm still confused how this could happen after years of happy email time.

Thanks,

Hi,

I wonder if this issue will persists if you create the account within a new Outlook Profile. A new Outlook profile means a new environment for this account, also a new data file to sync emails.

To create a new Outlook Profile, go to Control Panel -> Search "Mail" and open it -> Show Profiles -> Add -> Enter the Profile name -> OK.

Even if the issue doesn't occur with the new Profile, don't delete the old profile yet. If you have .pst files in the old profile, remember to move them to the new profile and open them in Outlook, this will make sure you won't lose your important data.

I can't find "Mail" from Control Panel.  I have Office 10 and keep up with the "updates".  I'm still having the problem with Outlook.

I can use it for outgoing messages....but, not incoming.

Could this be a problem with my server?  To add, to my confusing....I have been using webmail to receive email (80% of the time).  I noticed a couple days ago, that  when I compose an email on webmail it comes up with the signature "send from IPod".

I do have an IPod, but have never added that signature to my Outlook or webmail.  I can't seem to win for losing with regard to this email error.

Thanks for your reply.
