emails moved by a quick-step disappear

I am using Office 2013 Premium on Win 8.1 laptop which syncs with my account on outlook.com via Exchange ActiveSync. The outlook.com account also syncs with Outlook for Android on my cell. This setup works pretty well overall, but it gets a bit odd on occasion. One such oddity that is pretty reproducible is that when I move an email with a simple custom Quick Step it simply disappears.

The quick step simply marks the selected email(s) as UNREAD and moves them to my Inbox. I use this to "save" emails found in other folders (such as the Junk E-mail folder).

The instant I invoke the quick step, the email is not visible in the current folder (usually Junk) and I see the unread count for the Inbox increment ... for about 1 second, then the count decrements. Usually it happens when I have no unread emails in the Inbox, so a bold 1 appears next to the Inbox entry in the folder tree, and then the bold 1 disappears after about a second.

When this happens, the email of interest is not in the Inbox - or anywhere else. Advanced Find used with a very specific search string cannot find the email anywhere in the Mailbox.

I tried this experiment: forward an email from the Junk folder to a co-worker, so the email exists in the Junk and Sent folders. An Advanced find on the mailbox for a unique word in the subject finds both of these emails. I execute my quickstep, I see the bold 1 next to the Inbox or one second. Advanced find can now only find the email in the sent folder - the email moved by the quickstep is GONE.

The issue is not the view settings on the Inbox folder - it has NO filters, and if I move an email from Junk to Inbox via drag-and-drop, I can see it just fine.

Also note that I have several accounts configured in Outlook 2013, and I have checked that the quick step is configured to move emails to the correct inbox folder. Auto-Archive is disabled.

Lastly, this quick step DID used to work at one time. I don't use it that often, so I can't say when it actually stopped working. But my recollection is that it did work about 8 or 9 months ago.

Any help you can lend would be appreciated.

Hi,

I did a test in my Outlook 2013, and the described issue was reproduced.

In my test, this only occurs when 1. it is an Outlook.com account(Exchange ActiveSync) 2. the original message is in the Junk E-mail folder.

I'll report this issue through my portal, the workaround so far is to drag the email to Inbox and mark it as unread manually.
