email flow design

Hi ,

We are using exchange 2013. Now we want to make it live so that users are able to send and receive the emails from outside.

We have one website running , and we have a static ip connection from local ISP.

Now , what are the things i need to configure on webhosting server , where my website is running . Do I need to create a MX record and point it to my local office static ip , which is provided from my ISP.

What I need to defined in A Record settings..Is it the same IP , which is provided from my isp..

Also , Do i need to open only port 25,110,143,993,995 on my router or other ports too...

Thanks

Hi,

You can create an A record mail.domain.com pointing to your router from the ISP and from the router it should point to Exchange Server. For autodisover to work, create one more A record with name autodiscover.domain.com and route it in same fashion.

The same A record name should be configured internally for outlook anywhere/owa url.

Port 25, 443 are mandatory when you use Outlook anywhere and owa. Other ports are required if you use POP3, IMAP protocols

Hi ,

Thanks for your quick reply..

Will autodiscover work from outside , as my most of the users are located at remote office and using outlook , so will autodiscover work on public IP or I must have to use imap and smtps

Also , on router side , what could be the rules

NAT rules.

from outside --> 25--> exchange ip

from outside --> 110 --> exchange IP

from outside --> 143 -- > exchange IP

is it correct ?

thanks
