email address Autocomplete

Hi ,

1.What happens did you try to send an email to anyone of the user in exchange 2010 from exchange 2013 owa by logging in to the migrated mailbox ?

2.What happens when you to try to send an email form anyone of the newly created mailbox in exchange 2013 to anyone of the mailbox user in exchange 2010 ?

3.Did you have any transport rules in place ?

4.Does this issue happens for all the migrated mailboxes from exchange 2010 ?

If any of the above doesn't help then the final option would be to enable the transport pipeline logs to find out where the message is getting moderated .However first we need to test the basic things which is mentioned above.

May be outlook saved old smtp addresses in address book, and didn't update it. To check it double click username in outlook -> go to last tab "email addresses" -> and check for smtp addresses.

Hello all,

We are migrating few users from one exchange domain to another and we have an annoying problem, let me first give the setup details

New Domain: Abc.com (Exchange 2013)

Old domain: xyz.com(Exchange 2010)

the new exchange server is acting as an external relay to the old domain, the users who have been migrated to the new exchange server have a strange problem, when they send email to anyone in xyz.com, the outlook modifies the email address to @abc.com and eventually receives a non delivery notice because that mailbox does not exist eg if sally@abc.com sends an email to john@xyz.com, outlook modifies the email address to john@abc.com. The users do not have any issuse sending emails to other external domains such as @gmail.com or anything. any suggestion?

Thanks for your reply Nithyanandham, to answer your questions

1.What happens did you try to send an email to anyone of the user in exchange 2010 from exchange 2013 owa by logging in to the migrated mailbox ? No I have not tried it via OWA.

2.What happens when you to try to send an email form anyone of the newly created mailbox in exchange 2013 to anyone of the mailbox user in exchange 2010 ? We are consolidating users from different mail systems to new Exchange 2013, other people are able to send email without any issues, the only users who are having problems are the ones that were migrated from exchange 2010.

3.Did you have any transport rules in place ? No

4.Does this issue happens for all the migrated mailboxes from exchange 2010 ? Nope, 2 users are having the most problem.

Also I am beginning to think that the issues is local, we did a mailbox export from old server and imported to new mail box, I am thinking if the old address cache was also imported and that is what is causing the issue? Any thoughts?

Alright please check it in owa.

1.Secondly in anyone of the problematic mailbox , please clear the auto complete cache and select the email address from the GAL while sending an new email to the recipients in the XYZ.COM .

2.While sending the new emails please have the outlook in online mode and check the results.
